After the girls left, it’s time for homework. Poor Swan, Tiave and Patrick (see! He lives! They haven’t killed him as a sacrifice to death to bring their father back yet) have to work while the rest of the teens can enjoy a nice evening off.

Since almost all the other former Downtownie teenagers are female, each of the Teens boys should be able to find someone to their liking. Orion and Lakshmi Byall really hit it off. Swan finds a friend in Rose Miller.

Kestrel somehow went to work without me noticing. She works as a Lab Glass Scrubber.

I wanted something without commitment, to play whenever I don’t feel like playing Middleground, so I came up with this. My goal is to have all six children of Jon Smith Tricou grow up into adults (don’t know whether I’ll send them to college or not) and ultimately have one of them reach the top of the Occult career and revive Jon Smith and his family (a college degree would be helpful for that), all while leading happier lives than they- presumably- had before. For an added challenge, I might turn some of them into supernaturals during this… challenge?

So, this is 31 Mendoza Drive, the quite shabby home of the Teens (gotta appreciate Eaxis ‘moldy’/’shabby’ wallpapers. They are great!).

Swan, Kestrel, Tiave and Orion come back from school with varying degrees of happiness about their marks. Because each of them brought home a friend from school, poor Loren is beamed out of the school bus. I have no idea where Patrick is, but he is there. Somewhere.

Disclaimer

From tonight onwards, I will alternate rounds of Middleground with days played of a new “project” of mine (because my queue and drafts sections hold roughly 150 posts combined and I’m really ticked off about having too much unposted stuff). I hope you’ll like it as much as I do, and don’t worry: I won’t stop playing Middleground. In fact, I just fired up my game to play the neighbourhood again.

(I’m not sure I like my method of alternating both neighbourhoods. If you by any chance have an idea how to do it better, feel free to hit me up.)

Ah! Nah, Andrea’s not the type of Sim to do that. Although it would provide a nice little income boost…

On the matter of tablet-laptops

So, one year ago I bought a new laptop- you know, a convertible one, half laptop, half tablet- at our local distributor (a vendor specialising in discontinued items and B-Ware- which still work fine). We’ve bought from them before and were happy (the first laptop I ever got was from there and is still working just fine). This time, not so much.

In January, my laptop suddenly stopped working. Which was annoying, since I used it for school, but not a big problem, since I have my sturdy desktop. Sent it in, got it back with the message that it got fixed. Opened it, it stopped working again after restarting once (software issues). Sent it in again, got it back again, it stopped working after restarting once, sent it back AGAIN, still not working. The fourth time I sent it in (in April!) I got an apology letter stating that they will issue me a full refund, that they are very sorry I had such a bad experience with that laptop, and that their tech team is baffled, because they have never encountered an error like this.

Bought a new laptop from my refund. Charged it at home, installed everything, pulled the plug after it was fully charged- black screen. Plugged it in again, started the PC, pulled the plug, blackness. Called the call center (with whom I was very familiar at that point- great guys, really nice and competent!), we tried some stuff, diagnosis: laptop broken. Exchanged it for the same model. Working just fine.

My brother wanted a laptop for school work, so we went there again. Bought a nice convertible just like mine. Brought it home, started it “Less than 5% battery, PC will shut down”. Let it charge for an hour, seemed to work fine. Suddenly, the display started to glitch out and it shut itself down. Turned it on again: “Less than 5% battery, PC will shut down”. Drove back to the vendor, exchanged it for another one. I even joked with the customer service representative about my bad luck with their PCs. Arrived at home. Turned the laptop on. It didn’t recognise the keyboard (it’s one of those convertibles where you can remove the display from the keyboard and use as a tablet). Called the customer service (they know me by name by now). Tried a bunch of stuff, reset the keyboard driver etc. Nothing worked. “Yeah, you should probably return that.” Thanks, Tom. Will exchange it either for another one or get a refund.

The bad thing about it: THEY ARE GOOD! Good quality (as I said, my own old brand laptop is working just fine, my brother’s old laptop is working just fine, my father bought a laptop when I bought my second (and third) one and it works. Heck, my boyfriend bought a Smart TV from them and it works JUST FINE (okay, there was a scare when we first installed it, but turns out we don’t actually get cable TV, but satellite- which is somehow distributed by cable? And connects only to the cable box in our bedroom??). It’s just the laptops that I buy or pick that seem to be completly fucked up. Heck- the customer service representative today told us that we were the first exchange for that particular model. And we’re going to be the second, too. Jeez, I’m so tired. Doesn’t help that I bumped my head really badly this morning while trying to dodge a flying dog- long story. I think I’ll just go to sleep. Maybe everything will work when I work up tomorrow.

Yeah, Ivy is pretty direct. She doesn’t have time for bullshit.

I’m just happy that I chose to give them Greek deitty names. With the Roman deities, I’m not sure I could get a working “A-litter”.

sim-boo said: LOL NO IVY IS TOO GOOD FOR HIM

Yeah, she probably is. But she had a “Woohoo” want and quite frankly, there is no other male Sim in Middleground she feels even remotely attracted to (I’m still curious about how that 1 bolt between her and Brandon came to be) and I don’t think Remington- stuck up bastard he can be- would be willing to continue their relationship as an affair in order to fulfil that one “Woohoo” want. Don’t worry though, this was a purely casual hook up and their relationship will stay this way (no babies were made)..

Huh? As in: does the dog dig in the already dug out hole? I’m sorry, I think something got lost in translation.

didilysims said: Have you tried putting an object there? Maybe a beware of dog sign? 😛

THAT IS GENIUS and I’m kinda mad now that I didn’t think of it myself. XD
