Hiatus

Short notice that I likely won’t be very active until mid-february. Between preparing for 6 exam in the span of 12 days (one of which I CAN’T fail), one reader’s diary I haven’t even started on and one oral presentation, taking care of my mother who is semi-dependent on us since 2013 after a broken foot -among other health problems- and helping around the house, there won’t be much time for simming, I fear. But I’ll be still around, lurking, liking and maybe even commenting. See y’all in february!

*sighs- and that’s only my third semester out of 6…*

A meme!

I got tagged by jaydesims and am very late to the party…

What was your:

Last Drink: water. Don’t drink much else.

Last Phone call:Oh! Oh dear….My brother. Asked me to come downstairs. House-intern calls do count, right?

Last text: Family. A distant relative got a facebook account. Tried to warn them.^^

Last song: Tom’s Diner. Suzanne Vega. That song is older than me! XD

Last time You cried: I don’t know. Probably some days ago over some tear jerking video. I tend to cry easily.

Have You Ever:

Been drunk and thrown up: Drunk, yes, thrown up, no. Usually don’t drink too much.
Cried because of your OTP: Nope, don’t think so.
Edited the questions in an ask meme: Nah.
Gotten angry watching the news: YES! There is soo much I get angry about!

General:

Three favorite colors: Maroon, blue and yellow.
Any Pets: Two. Needles, the big old Shepherd and our little truffle… the one that decided that eating macadamia (?) nuts would be a good idea.
Do you want to change your name: No. It’s an unique but lovely name. Even though people tend to mispronounce it. (Nothing major, just sounds foreign to me.
What time did you wake up today: 7:30. Could have slept til 8. But my mum needed help downstairs, so no extra sleep for me.
What were you doing at 12 last night: Sleeping. I was really tired.
Have you ever talked to a person named Tom: Yes. One of my teachers at university is named Thomas, but usually goes by Tom.

Right Now:

Eating: Spring rolls.
Drinking: Nothing. We don’t have anything to drink left and I’m to lazy to go to the grocer…
I’m about to: Play Sims! And re-fill my queue.
Listening to: The TV in the background. I need some noice,
Wearing: Jeans, fluffy slippers and a comfy sweater.

Is anyone still doing this?

Last update on our dog!

The little muppet has recovered quickly and is well again- and it seems like he didn’t sustain any permanent damage! His “big brother” and the whole family are happy that it turned out alright, but often, it doesn’t. Please take care of your pets, especially dogs, outside and don’t leave them unattended or let them get out of eye sight so they can pick up/get fed something poisonous and be well aware of signs of a poisoning! Your pets will thank you!

(We really need to renovate our floor. 7 years of little claws scratching over it quite ruined it. Still worth it! XD)

Our dog

Thank you,

justsimaround,   sushigal007 and all the others for your well-wishes and kind words. We spoke to the clinic today and it looks like he’ll make it. He’s already walking again- and according to the vet assistent he already recovered his appetite. We’ll probably visit him today. I’ll promise to keep you updated. We are now assuming that he was deliberatly poisoned, but do not know if it was by chance or if someone actually slipped him something. Another possibility is that he picked up a poisioned rodent, but we’ll likely never know.

And it wouldn’t stop glitching out! Even when I switched back into normal view and then back again!

didilysims said: That’s so cool! I love seeing behind-the-scenes stuff like that, and sometimes I think seeing the rehearsal can be more interesting than the final play! And not seeing a play this time gives you an excuse to go back someday! 😉

*bragging* I’m actually scheduled to assist the director (actually more like assisting the assistent of the director) in an upcoming opera that is performed at our university soon, so I might even get to experience this behind-the-scene-stuff first-hand- I love it, too! I’m always the one who watches the behind the scene footage and outtakes on DVDs and online. XD I’ll definitly come back, even only seeing the globe is impressing.

The “Wish for Wealth” genie wish ups the chances of getting robbed. But still, the amount of fires and burglaries in this hood is getting ridiculous!!! And only about half of the robbed households (spoiler: almost every single household) ever recieved a genie lamp…

didilysims said: Ha ha, you Germans have a wonderful way with words!

XD Our sayings tend to be rather… violent. And flowery. I’d really like to know how most of them were coined. Especially that “Wink mit dem Zaunpfahl” one… What the heck was going on wherever this was coined? Passive aggressive, bludgeoning bavarians? Fence-waving saxons? I’m going to look that one up, actually

EDIT: It’s actually somewhat linked to bludgeoning. As in medieval times, it was used to suggest someone that a good smacking awaited them. (The more you know) But it was mostly used to show that something couldn’t be more obvious, but still missed by the reciever.
