If you are 18+ and LGBT, GET OUT AND VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6TH. TRANSGENDER RIGHTS ARE IN DANGER.

The Trump Administration is planning to change the legal definition of sex to- “male or female, unchangeable, Unless by genetic testing.” Aka, trans people would be completely erased. They would have no rights towards discrimination, changing their gender, or even presenting as trans in general. If you aren’t planning to vote or you’re on the fence, PLEASE, for the love of god, get out and vote. We have to protect our community.

guys?? please. seriously, please vote. if you aren’t 18 or in the US, please signal boost this or other posts with resources on how to register.

if you’re not already registered, check and see if your state allows same-day voter registration. don’t have same-day voter registration in your state? check the in-person registration deadline for your state. some of them are much closer to election day than the electronic or mail-in deadlines.

IT IS NOT TOO LATE.

and if you don’t care about trans people (like so many anons have been super willing to inform me) please at least take intersex people into account. about 1 in every 100 people are born with bodies that differ from the accepted standard for male or female. this is their literal, actual biology, so no matter how you feel about someone identifying with a sex other than their “birth” sex, we have to accept the fact that there is more going on, BIOLOGICALLY, than just “male” and “female.”

I don’t usually reblog politics-related stuff, but I think this is a very important topic (and not only because I major in Gender Studies). Gender is NOT fixed at birth. There are always variables in everything. It’s the way evolution works. We humans like to categorize everything to fit into binary standards that we think suit our narrow mindsets, but this will always exclude someone or something. No matter how limited our categories/way of thinking are, nobody is going to stop evolution (and I mean that in the broadest term, not just biological) from happening and people need to accept that and move on and live their lives and let others live theirs the way they want!
And if you don’t know about a topic, please do not simply dismiss it/ have a negative opinion on it, but educate yourself, read about it, until you truly understand the thing you are thinking to be against before claiming to be.

Even more replies :D

Wow, you guys are very chatty today. XD

Yeah, it is fun AND it is an important skill to learn. It’s very sad to see how many kids cannot swim or are very insecure when swimming. The people who taught me how to swim are doing a very important job (I believe they are actually volunteers, so… wow.).

I’m kind of sad that I’ll never get to use skin diving outside of pools (I’m not very fond of open water and all the things that live in there). But yeah, it’s a cool skill to have.

littleblondesim said: Names are so interesting, yes! The name I think is tainted the most around where I am is “Steven”. I also like looking at how a name changes based on when and where it is. Like, Mary/Maria, etc.

It’s really sad that “Kevin” became a ‘tainted’ name, because, it’s a nice name. But it was a name that was very en vogue around the time I was born. That and the fact that English-sounding names are often perceived as lower class names (class has become a huge factor in naming your kids- parents are afraid that they’ll disadvantage their kids if they give them the wrong names). Add in a discussion about a paper that claimed that teachers hate “Kevins” with a fiery passion because they are unruly, wild children and parents afraid of being associated with the lower class and ‘problematic’ children and you have effectively tainted a name for at least 50 years… Seriously, “Kevin” and “Chantal” are now the cliche names for poor, stupid, lower class people my age- and that paper that started all was basically bullshit from an academic point of view…

A currently popular variant of Mary/Maria in my country is “Mia”. It’s actually the number 1 girl name right now (depending which statistic you trust- there are several different ones out there, some counting first and middle names, some counting them separately). “Mila” is also becoming popular, and “Marie” is the most popular middle name here…

Yeah, as you can see, I’m very passionate about names. XD

Aw, it doesn’t even know my name! To be fair it’s a very rare German name, only somewhat known among Catholics…

This could make for a very interesting story. And a very, very dysfunctional relationship…

Awww yeah!

I actually finished reinstalling the game Sunday, but didn’t get around to play, mainly because I went on a downloading spree… ^^

This is a fresh install. Some of you might remember that I had troubles with my computer a few weeks ago. Yeah, my harddrive died. Which was 7 months old. Everythings settled and repaired now and I even got a discount/warranty price on the new one. Thank god I backed up all my important files… apart from the game files. Okay, I did have a recent backup… on my busted hard drive. The one on my external hard drive was not recent… Anyway, kids, always back up your game files. Externally!

I’m back, I guess? I wasn’t really away, was I?
