Belladonna Cove

didilysims said: I think the total is something like 52 or 53…crazy! And yet, it’s a city so it needs MORE!! Steal away on the makeovers if you like ‘em. 🙂 I stole a lot of ideas from other people anyway. I’m looking forward to seeing what you have planned for this ‘hood!

That’s… that’s a lot. Thanks, I definitely will. It’s just… a lot to makeover. Oh, I don’t quite know what I’ll do with it yet. I could imagine playing it regularly, but I could also see myself making up little “slice of life” stories with it (the second option would allow me to keep my attention on my other stuff…hm).

The college kids

holleyberry said: Brittany and Banjamin are going to make cute, redheaded little babies.

holleyberry said: Andrew, not Banjamin.

holleyberry said: Whose name i keep spelling wrong.

Hey, remember that I kept spelling Brandon wrong when I first started Middleground? There’s something about those “B” names…

Yeah, there are going to be a lot of redheads next generation. Brittany and Andrew’s future kids are obvious, but all of the Spitzig kids and Rufus Hogan also have recessive genes for red hair, Abigail either has a recessive for red or blonde, and Chandler is a natural redhead as well.

Yeah, Andrew has the most cohesive mix of his parents’ genes, I think. Benjamin can look a bit wonky. Andrew also looks similar to Brittany, so I’m very curious how their children will look like.

(Now I’m curious whether it would be possible for Andrew and Brittany to have a blonde kid)

Joe and Komei grow up

holleyberry said: They’ve come a long way.

Hell yeah. I’m curious what their elder years will hold in store for them.

Party time

holleyberry said: That’s when you teleport them to the lot.

Totally could have. But I thought it was kind of funny. And I’m a bit insecure about how much my new graphics card can handle. It is a gaming card, but it’s ancient. Not sure how it’ll handle all the new custom content like HQ grass and light up hood deco.

Remington’s makeover

kaylynn-langerak said: So classy! I really like your version of him!

He just struck me as fashionable hipster when I first saw him. So there you go.

didilysims said: It needs a bit of help (few BDC lots don’t), but I’ve always thought it’s pretty cool. I wish they had built even more houses in the tech style, actually. Socialites are lacking too…. Because obviously there aren’t enough lots in the neighbourhood already. 😉

I wholeheartedly agree. The downstairs pool is pretty cool, and even though I shudder at the thought of only having half-walls surrounding them, it does look pretty rad.

Yeah, they went completely overboard in the jock (?) district by the sea and neglected all of the Upper Belladonian districts (which is a shame, really). But even more lots would be madness, too. Aren’t there like 50 lots already?

(Also, I may or may not have stolen borrowed some of your makeovers of Belladonna Cove. Seriously, they are so pretty!)

didilysims said: Well at least he’s calling back…

didilysims said: Well that party took an unexpected turn. o_o

primaverasims said: oh my God they’re swingers

Desiderata Valley is like my least favorite neighbourhood (mostly because I lack any kind of inspiration for it), so I knew I had to do something to spice things up. Well, guess what? “Desiderata Valley is a swinger community” is now my new headcanon.

241 Desmond Drive (Belladonna Cove)

girzish said: I used to move the DeBateaus into this house all the time.

How neat! I ended up moving the Baldwins there, they really fit the aesthetic.

eulaliasims said: wait, how have I never seen this lot before?! I might have to install Belladonna Cove to investigate, it looks pretty cool.

It the farthest lot up north in the Tech district, it’s pretty well hidden. Yes! It’s got a pool, very interesting (but useable) architecture, and the downstairs is absolutely not weatherproof. It’s a statement.

My college professor gave me two very important historical persons to compare because they both attended a very important historical event. I just found out that one of those very important historical persons was born 150 years after the very important historical event. Deadline is in three days, so let’s procrastinate until I figure out what to do.

Movie tag

holleyberry said: omg, I love What we do in the Shadows.

It’s so amazing! And it is set in Wellington, which is probably my favourite town on this planet!

moocha-muses said: MIB and Big Hero 6 could both be on my list, honestly

Right? They are just really great and hold a very special place in my heart.

That nameless Love thing

executables-sims said: Loving this already! 😀

Thanks! (Fair warning, though, as a Moonbeam trail challenge, it’s bound to get weird pretty quick…)

Leaving for vacation tomorrow!

Gift exchange

lilibethsonar said: Aw, it looks so sweet! I need to make sims do it when it’s winter in my ‘hood. :3

I never remember to celebrate Christmas (I am incredibly forgetful when playing Sims and I hate those in-game calendars that remind you), so it’s a first for me as well.

Aging Plantsims

sunnyday-rae said: Wait are your plantsims teenagers?

Ivy and Poppy are actually adults in those shots. But in general, yes, my plantsims age like regular sims. I used this tutorial by @didilysims to teach me how to make them age “normally”.

Komei wants to befriend Timothy!!!!!!!!!

Uh! Although I don’t think my very liberal, German professor works with the American government… although he did work with the Pentagon on one occasion (he’s kind of famous in my country). Hm…

Pregnant Pao and his relationship with Andrea

moocha-muses said: Don’t think you’ll get out of the whole “saddling me with parental responsibilities for two babies” thing that easily!

Oh, should Andrea ever find out what really happened there will be hell to pay!

Why is the Hogan’s house so small?

lilibethsonar said: Extra floor? 🙂

That would be an option. But I suck at building, so…

Chance cards

holleyberry said: Haha! That’s an awesome chance card. No one in this house needs to work anymore.

It is! One of the best chance cards in the whole franchise, especially since it’s such a nonsensical one.

Happy birthday, Middleground!

holleyberry said: Congrats! It’s a fun hood to follow.

It’s fun to play, too. Good for winding down after a long day.

Dormie love

holleyberry said: Cute!

They are sooo adorable! Pictures don’t do them justice.

Meadow gets the boot

Right? She was so much fun to watch!

Some new townies (Part 1 and Part 2)

holleyberry said: Kennedy!

holleyberry said: Goopy!

I kind of missed them! Nice to see some “familiar faces” running around the neighbourhood.

Messing up

holleyberry said: *psst* I think you mean Pao is the gross one…?

holleyberry said: This post didn’t get the Middleground tag.

Whoops! Thanks, I fixed it!

TWINS!

holleyberry said: 2!!!

Yep. This will be fun…

Jan’s house

littlemicrocosims said: i love her house!

Thank you, but I can’t take any credit for it. It came with the neighbourhood (Middleground by plasticbox).

PC struggles

wearyvagabond said: Nvidia GTX 1060 works great with Sims 2 after minimal fiddling; I’d definitely recommend upgrading

itsyedude said: It’s best to get the 10 series over the 7 series since it’ll be supported longer. So definitely go for a GTX 1050 Ti. A GTX 1060 GTX will pretty much run almost anything without issue.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will look into it.

Middleground’s birthday

katatty-main said: oooh, exciting!! 😀

I don’t think I’ve ever played a neighbourhood for that long. Except for that one I played like ten years ago, but I just kept on adding Sims to it (and didn’t play on a rotational basis), so I’m not sure it counts.

Term papers and Trumps

sushigal007 said: Good luck! And on the bright side, you’ve got a whole lot of material to work with!

God, I wish. Unfortunately, our history department is like really old-fashioned and strongly advises us to only use published sources (books and academic articles, basically). They only allowed us to use online sources this year, and highly limit what we can and cannot use. Otherwise, I would probably just print out every tweet Trump’s ever made regarding his politic on Russia and hand that in… so maybe it’s a good idea to impose those restrictions?

German book titles

simspressionism said: German titles are so weird most of the time

SO MANY FORCED PUNS! Stuff that’s only half translated. Fantasy books that are named after their protagonists. I would like to meet the marketing teams that come up with those titles…

Sims = Fan fic?

mdpthatsme said: About the premades, I would think so.

primaverasims said: I would think so if it’s the premades since you imagine them outside of canon. But if it’s 100% original characters in a custom neighborhood (or emptied neighborhoods) I would categorize it as original fiction

ejsims said: agree with everyone about the premades-technically, those stories are fanfic.

strangetomato said: I think it’s similar to fanfiction, but not the same. What we are given with the premades are hints and clues to story and some character details that can be interpreted in endless ways. It’s more of a template for storytelling than a fiction work to transform, as in fanfic.

Hm, interesting point of views…I would agree that original characters aren’t fanfiction. And yeah, technically posting about the premades is fan fiction- although canon is much broader and it is more of a template than a given story.

katzengirl said: Yep, stories about the premades is fanfiction. 🙂 There’s even a category for the Sims on fanfiction.net though not many people have posted there.

Really? Wow. That’s kinda weird. I suppose it’s just text, too?

New graphics card

simlishnoir said: Nvidia GTX 750 is a good card that worked with TS2 and is quite decent for other games (maybe not the latest ones) as well. I personally use a GTX 1060 (after upgrading from the one mentioned before) and TS2 works for that as well.

ethanmcgregor said: I have Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and TS2 runs great with it.

Thank you for your suggestions! The game actually runs well with the graphics card I managed to lend (although it’s rather loud). I think I’ll look into the GTX 750, it sounds good and still cheap enough for a broke college student.

Lazy & late replies

Sorry, life’s crazy right now (also, I’m pretty sure I missed some replies, I’m sorry!)

didilysims said: Aw what a cute idea! Darn roaches, spoiling the field trip. 😦

It was the evil witch! It’s all her fault. Maybe I should send Kaylynn to “talk” to her…

didilysims said: We’ll love and support you no matter what your dreams are. 😉 Good luck on all the studying. You can do it!

Thanks! I actually passed it (with a B+- whooop!), so no weird career choices for me!

holleyberry said: Perhaps Orlando will need glasses.

I’m sorry, but I think something got lost in translation here? Why would he need glasses to go on a date?

holleyberry said: Oh boy.

I was so into the idea of Sophie and Timothy as a couple. And then THIS! Oh boy indeed.

eulaliasims said: Maybe graduate her and make her a townie if you don’t feel like adding her to the playable population?

holleyberry said: I was going to suggest turning her into a townie too. Or Honorary citizen! Maybe move her into an existing house, like with Jan, or something.

katatty-main said: i think making her a townie is a good option, too! you can use that “age up with” feature after that, maybe?

Thank you guys! Sure, turn her into a townie! Why didn’t I think of that! Damn… (Although, the thought of making her playable and moving her in with Jan… Sophie’s LTW would actually make for a pretty interesting story line…)

Fully functional kid’s ovens

taylors-simblr said: It’s based on easy bake ovens I think. They cook brownies with lights. I’m pretty sure they had to recall some because of fires or burns. I always wanted one as a kid, but they are just American

Ah, so it IS an American thing! And they really work? Would’ve thought you’d just end up with slightly warm cookie dough. (we never had anything like this, only regular play kitchens)

The Tellerman-Carr marriage

holleyberry said: Don’t fuck it up Joe.

Oh, I’m living for the drama. I kind of want something to happen, but I also don’t (they are cute together after all). We’ll see what happens.

Right, huh! (I think it’s happening due to the fragile BFF hack I have. One message for the STR and one for the LTR.)

Tutoring students

holleyberry said: This is such an awesome idea. I forgot they can do this. I know how Alexander Goth is spending his uni years.

I didn’t know it was possible until I saw it (and @taylors-simblr confirmed it for me). Definitely suits Alexander!
