so as this post says, if you’r finding your blog is all jumbled, old posts popping up to the front, new posts not showing up at all, etc it is because of those posts being flagged and then unflagged. all you have to do is open them to edit and save them again and they’ll go back.
i just wanted to make this separate post to add that once you do that all your new posts will go back to being visible at the top of your blog as they should be i just did it and now everything’s fine on my blog.

I just signed up for a Dreamwidth account. Dunno what I’ll do with it yet, if anything, but I now have one. Surprisingly, the username “icad” was available, so that’s what it is. 🙂 There’s absolutely nothing there, though…but there might be in the future, depending on how things go with Tumblr.
I just created one – here and it’s totally empty, but if Tumblr doesn’t fix their algorithms, I’ll migrate over there to share new downloads and game play shots.

Oh, man. I just logged in to my totally empty dreamwidth for the first time since 2009. It was still set to Canadian time (I lived there in 2009). I don’t have any intention of defecting there unless absolutely necessary, but here goes:
If you want to back up your entire blog without resorting to Tumblr’s default backup (which has never worked for me), try this out. It saves all of your pictures, tags, and other miscellanea into a nice little folder wherever you happen to install it.
Highly recommend this if you want a back up. (Caveat: it’s only for Windows.) It’s much, much faster than using tumblr’s backup thing.
Oh awesome, I’ll give this a try because my backup seems to be stuck.
Okay, folks. So. Tumblr’s jumped the shark in a big way, and I’m not even just talking about indiscriminately blocking all “adult” content on a platform that IS, in fact, primarily 18+.
Many blogs, like the wonderful @blackkatmagic , that are not especially NSFW have vanished.
(And I for one LIKE being able to go to curated porn blogs run by actual people and have a chance of finding stuff to my taste, it was one of the things that kept me on this hellsite, but that’s another issue entirely.)
I know lots of people are talking about migrating, but none of us are sure to where yet. Pillowfort seems to be an option, some people are talking about Twitter. But for now, it’s a mess, and even if we knew where we were going, it’s often a huge process, and a lot of us have stuff on tumblr that ONLY exists there.
One possible quick solution to save your blogs, both NSFW and personal, is to import it to WordPress. I found this solution through from frantic googling on how to save an entire blog, text posts an all. There are several apps for downloading all the pictures from a tumblr, (Plently for Windows, but only a few paid ones for mac, of which Tumbelog Picture Downloader is working for me so far) but this is the only solution I’ve seen so far that allows you to save EVERYTHING. I downloaded my NSFW blog in like 10 min. My regular blog, which is significantly larger, is in the process of importing, but I don’t anticipate any problems. I will, of course, update you if I have any.

I put parenthesis around the .’s like we’re back in FF-Hell, just in case tumblr’s new thing about outgoing links kicks in. You know what to do.
To break it down, just in case:
Sign up for a WordPress.com account at wordpress (.) com/start
You’ll have to create an account, with your email, a username, and a password. They should send you a confirmation email immediately, check it, activate it, and you’re good to go.
On the site, it will ask you for a site name. That page asks you a bunch of other information too, but you only have to fill out the site name.
Then you have to give your site a URL. If you’re lucky, your tumblr URL is still available, if not you’ll have to come up with another one, sorry.
It will tell you if that option is still available for free.
Then it will ask you to pick a plan. Free is really good enough, I swear.
Now you’re set up! You can import your tumblr!
The only differences from the linked tutorial are that the Import button is now on the first level menu, not in tools.
Hit Import, then you have to follow the link for “other importers” at the bottom, to find the option for Tumblr.
Then you’ll have to sign in with tumblr, using your normal tumblr credentials. You’ll be redirected there automatically.
You’ll have to allow WordPress permissions on your blog.
Then your blogs, including all your sideblogs, will show up in wordpress.
Hit import, wait a WHILE depending on the size of your blog, and you’re done!

I made my NSFW blog private for now, since I don’t know WP’s policy on NSFW.
This means that to access it, someone has to have an account and request access. But hey, part of our problem on this hellsite has been people going places they aren’t wanted, so I don’t personally see this as a bad thing. They can send a request from the landing site on your blog, you get an email, click a link in the email, and PRESTO, they have access.
To make it private, go to Settings > Reading > Site Visibility. Go back and check, it took me changing the setting twice for it to actually stick.
tl;dr, you can import your entire blog to wordpress in just a few steps.

The Trump Administration is planning to change the legal definition of sex to- “male or female, unchangeable, Unless by genetic testing.” Aka, trans people would be completely erased. They would have no rights towards discrimination, changing their gender, or even presenting as trans in general. If you aren’t planning to vote or you’re on the fence, PLEASE, for the love of god, get out and vote. We have to protect our community.
and if you don’t care about trans people (like so many anons have been super willing to inform me) please at least take intersex people into account. about 1 in every 100 people are born with bodies that differ from the accepted standard for male or female. this is their literal, actual biology, so no matter how you feel about someone identifying with a sex other than their “birth” sex, we haveto accept the fact that there is more going on, BIOLOGICALLY, than just “male” and “female.”
I don’t usually reblog politics-related stuff, but I think this is a very important topic (and not only because I major in Gender Studies). Gender is NOT fixed at birth. There are always variables in everything. It’s the way evolution works. We humans like to categorize everything to fit into binary standards that we think suit our narrow mindsets, but this will always exclude someone or something. No matter how limited our categories/way of thinking are, nobody is going to stop evolution (and I mean that in the broadest term, not just biological) from happening and people need to accept that and move on and live their lives and let others live theirs the way they want! And if you don’t know about a topic, please do not simply dismiss it/ have a negative opinion on it, but educate yourself, read about it, until you truly understand the thing you are thinking to be against before claiming to be.

If you saw my post (here) about a mod that came out that fixed the glitch but you weren’t happy that it used the try outfit out from booths, I got news for you! From the very creator of the mod, simler90 has found a way that fixes that without needing to use the mod. They explained in words how to do it plus other important details (here) but I thought a picture guide would be a good thing to share 🙂
Some things to note:
I saved and quit the game after doing the fix to see if it stays or if I have to fix it every time I open up the game, happy to report it stays fixed!
This fix isn’t just for townies employees, you can do this to playable sims as well.

Yay! I don’t even have any uniforms or clothes stores in my game yet, but I’m so happy that I don’t have to choose between fixed uniforms or the try on option. I love the try on option in clothes stores, plus it’s how to have public woohoo right?
