The Cop: He hated his job. Especially on days like this. Before the victim, a young girl, badly injured, was taken to hospital, he caught a glimpse of her face and under the bruises and blood, he saw a girl, barely older than his daughter. His heart sank. They would get them. All of them.

The Widower: She watched her father sitting by the fireplace. He looked peaceful, and she could tell that he was reminiscenting about the old times, before her mother dissapeared. She and his new fiancèe talked him into declaring her dead, but she saw him at the empty grave. He would never really get over her. The clock stroke midnight and she heard him whispering under his breath: “Many happy returns, Bella!”
