After a long day of trimming hedges, weeding and filling in holes (Remington didn’t lie when he said they were ‘desperate’ for a gardener), Joe comes home dirty and exhausted. After fixing himself, he invites someone over to keep him company.
Schlagwort: Middleground
*angry grumble noises*
That evening, Joe calls his friend Remington to vent his anger over his current economic situation. This new paper stand was only meant to be a short time solution until he got back on his feet, but not only is he now stranded without a job in the goddamn middle of nowhere, but he can’t even afford to move back into the city due to recent rent increases.
Remington has a solution: one of the families he cleans for is in dire need of a gardener. Joe isn’t thrilled. He certainly didn’t go to college to water some rich guys plants, but beggars can’t be choosers, he guesses. It’ll only be temporary, right?
A sports fan through and through, Joe has built a goal in the backyard in order to distract himself a bit. But still, he has to pay the bills somehow, and no one currently has a job for a run-of-the-mill business man.
“Anyway, it was nice to see you.”
“Yeah…” *swoons*
Poor Christy seems to have developed a crush on Joe. He seems to be a popular choice with both women and men.
His friend (and flirt) Christy drops by to cheer him up.
“Yeah, I think I’m going to sell, too.”
“Why? Your news paper stand is tiny!”
“I don’t just own the small shack, but also the surrounding park. And that’s a lot of land. The stand just doesn’t pay for itself.”
“Huh.”
Next up is Joe Carr who is apparently concerned with himself.
Brandon’s hobby is actually arts and crafts, and although he took Philosophy in college (why yes, I gave all my Sims college degrees), he still has a soft spot for painting and the performing arts. After sleeping in, he spends his noon and afternoon happily painting before it’s time to head off to work again. Surprisingly, bartending in the city is much more stressful and draining than owning his own bar, Brandon thinks.
Brandon comes home in the middle of the night.
That night, after Brandon has left for work, Joe drops by in the pouring rain to steal Brandon’s news paper… let’s just say it’s not his night.
